Though being able to edit posts and comments sounds like a good idea, I can't imagine the confusion that will result due to editing. If someone edits their posts, then anyone who has replied to that particular post will feel the urge to change the reply in reaction. These features will probably be more time consuming than the facebook....

Good post here, very well thought out. I really like the thoughts on DF and VSI. I wrote something along these lines (however much less detailed!) around the change in how we in IT handled the internet in the 90's compared to today (http://ow.ly/1ksdr) and how it still needs to change as we move forward.

Great post, looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.

Some of the CMSs provides this functionality out of the box. (as Kentico CMS). While others offers this as a add-on (Umbraco).
